How to Make Guacamole in 30 Seconds

Holy guacamole! OK, that was super corny but I just needed to get that out there! Now that that is out of the way, lets get down to business. Making guacamole seems very daunting, at least to me. I spend half my time in the grocery story trying to decide if the avocados are actually ripe and ready to eat! (I now know that brown with a slight give is ready to go–or guac!) If you want to be part of the avocado craze but don’t want to spend all day finding the right recipe, check out the video above or continue reading!

What you need:

  1. 2 ripe avocados
  2. 1 lime
  3. 2 roma tomatoes
  4. 1 red onion
  5. Salt
  6. Garlic powder
  7. Cilantro (optional)
  8. Hot sauce (optional)

How to make:

  1. Peel, pit and mash the avocados.
  2. Add the juice of one lime.
  3. Chop and add roma tomatoes.
  4. Add ¼ cup red onion.
  5. Add 1 teaspoon salt.
  6. Add ½ teaspoon garlic powder.
  7. Mix and serve!

I added ½ a teaspoon of hot sauce to the guacamole for an added punch but this is optional. Cilantro is a popular ingredient in common guacamole too so adding that is optional as well! Leaving both out won’t ruin the taste so add what you want at your discretion. I love wiping up this recipe as an appetizer on Taco Tuesday, or to go along with toast and eggs in the morning. Making this guacamole yourself is easy—and you won’t even have to worry about it “costing extra!”
